Swaroop C H graduated in B.E. (Computer Science) from PES Institute of Technology, Bangalore, India in 2004. He now works as a software engineer at Yahoo! Software Development India. In his final year in college, he started to write a beginner's book 'A Byte of Python' on how to program using the Python programming language. It was made available free to everyone who wished to use it and received incredible amount of feedback and encouragement from the readers. The book has had nearly 24,000 downloads in the past year. Various volunteers are translating the book into Chinese, Arabic, Spanish, Icelandic, Portuguese, Italian, French and many other languages as well. The book is available at www.byteofpython.info. He has had several offers from reputed international publishing companies and plans to publish the book later this year. He has presented talks on Glade at a Bangalore Linux Users' Group meet and on Qt and Linux at a APS College Linux User Groups meet. He has presented a talk on Python at the Linux Bangalore/2004 Conference held on Dec 1-3 2004 to a fully packed room of more than 120 professionals and students. He has been invited to conduct a hands-on Python workshop for the students at the FLOSS day at NIT (formerly REC), Calicut, Kerala in Jan 2005. He has also been invited to talk on Python at Renaissance 2005 at Govt Engineering College, Thrissur, Kerala in Feb 2005. He has written articles on other software such as Mono and now writes regularly on his blog at www.swaroopch.info with technical articles on his explorations of the software world and technologies (such as Python, DotGNU, WordPress, ...), his poetry, musings and other articles of general interest.
